Lately, I’ve been seriously hooked on Bleach anime. I’m just keeping this page as a graphic appendix of its characters cuz they’re so freaking many! T_T
The basic descriptions are from wikipedia (with modifications to suit my own opinions! XD…), but I’ve added some graphics to it plus a bit of my own info (which includes manga readings)… Will definitely be updating this page as I progress into the anime/manga (depending on my time)
Cast of Characters
Kuchiki Rukia (朽木 ルキア) I like Rukia, the bossy Shinigami who awakens Ichigo’s power. She’s one opiniated girl! For someone that tiny, she’s got one huge napoleonic complex… Just as well, cuz she needs all the attitude she can get to stand up to a badass like Ichigo! I’m not sure if they’re gonna be a couple or not, since the mangaka Tite Kubo is being coy, but man! he sure drops enough hints!
Kurosaki Ichigo (黒崎 一護) is a high school student, a part-time Shinigami with a Zanpakutô the size of Australia, and an overall badass attitude! Most of the time, the other Shinigami ask: “What is he?” The name of his Zanpakutô is Zangetsu or “Moon Cutter”. Later on in the manga, and hinted at in the anime, Ichigo’s hollow self is revealed. This might be hard to believe, but he cultivates a frowning face as part of his image.
Sado (Chado) Yasutora (茶渡 泰虎) is a very interesting character. He’s partly Mexican and partly Japanese. In his youth his “abuelo” (“grandfather”) taught him the value of controlling his incredible strenght. Like Ichigo, when most people are faced with examples of Sado’s formidable physique, they ask, “What are you made of?” Irrespective of his might, Sado is one gentle and sweet person, with a soft spot for the vulnerable whom he always tries to protect. Sado is the kind of dependable friend one would like to have watching after your back!
Inoue Orihime is very hard to believe that Orihime placed third in the overall academic standings of Karakura High! As her good friend, Tatsuki would say, “she certainly doesn’t look it!” She might be a bit of an airhead, but she’s a very sweet and caring person. In the manga she has a huge crush on Ichigo, but in the anime it’s a bit more watered down… Oh, well!
Uryuu Ishida (石田雨竜) is your usual intense, shy, loner type character, except that this one is a hightly valued member of the sewing club (nice touch!), and also the last Quincy, a mortal who has developed the ability to control the spirit particles found in the air and concentrate them into a bolt of pure energy which then is shot from a bow made again of spirit particles. This particular craft was taught to Ishida by his Sensei who was also his Oji-sama or grandfather. Overall, he has to overcome a whole series of hangups before he joins Ichigo in his fight.
Kon short for Kaizō Konpaku (or “modified soul”) is Tite Kubo’s masterpiece of the perverse! Who else would think of enclosing the very essence of Hentainess into the body of a teddy bear? And worse of all, an unwanted teddy bear no girl wants, except for Karin, Ichigo’s sister, and only as a thing she can kick when playing the “Red” soccer heroine in Don Kanjoni’s “Superheroes” show! He has a huge crush on Rukia, whom he calls Nee-san (“older sister”), and always tries to molest whenever he’s inhabiting Ichigo’s body! Of course, when Rukia’s not around, any girl will do. He has a thing for boobs, so yeah, he’s rather infatuated with Orihime’s and later on with Rangiku’s…
Friends From Karakura High
Keigo Asano and Mizuiro Kojima are Ichigo’s goofiest friends, especially Keigo! They both seem to have girl issues: Mizuiro likes older women, while Keigo will try to pounce on anything resembling “female”! The outcome, for all his “little-boy-lost” look (or maybe because of it) Mizuiro seems to score all the time, while in contrast poor Keigo never fails to strike out! Keep at it Keigo, maybe one day you’ll get lucky!
Chizuru Honshō, Ryō Kunieda, Michiru Ogawa, and Mahana Natsui are the girls of Kamakura High. They are part of Tatsuki and Orihime’s circle of friends. When Rukia was stuck in a gigai (false body) in the “real” world, these girls befriended her (or rather did so cuz they wanted to ask Rukia about her relationship with Ichigo! XD). Chirizu is the redhead with the funky glasses who is overly fond of Orihime, and her breasts! (but Taksuki keeps on foiling her attempts to fondle Orihime too much!). Michiru is the shy one who looks like a little girl. Ryô is the dark haired girl who always has her nose stuck inside the pages of a book (she also ranked No.2 in the school’s overall academic standings right after Ishida). And the final girl of the foursome is Mahana Natsui. The only one in the group who can give Orihime a run for her money! (in terms of breast size….ahem!)
Urahara Kisuke (浦原 喜助) is the somewhat goofy owner of Urahara Shoten (candy/medicine/junk? store). He’s also the sole ‘official supplier’ of Soul Society goods in the human world, and seems stock all sorts of shinigami items. In the anime, it’s never revealed how his customers pay for these goods, but in the manga it’s revealed that a shinigami will get ‘credits’ towards purchases in Urahara’s store depending on the caliber of the hollow they took down… Later on, Yoruichi reveals to Ichigo that Urahara was the former Captain of the 12th Division and the founder of the Shinigami Research Institute.
Tessai Tsukabishi is Urahara’s assistant. It’s interesting to note that in Japanese he calls Urahara Taichô, which translates to “Captain”, but also “Boss”. Given Tessai’s strenght and the fact that he can perform extremely high levels kidô (“demon arts”), there’s especulation that he was probably Urahara’s Lieutenant, and followed his Captain into exile.
Ururu Tsumugiya is a very sweet looking little girl who always seems to be bullied by her red-haired counterpart, Jinta. This proves that looks are always deceptive since she can take out a whole row of Hollows with one shot of her powerful cigar looking weapon! She’s the “Pink” member of the Karakura Superheroes Team, where she acts sorta like a support person, but in truth gets to clear out the Hollows while the two “Reds” (Jinta and Karin) are arguing as to who should be the only “Red”!
Kurosaki Isshin (黒崎 一心) He’s like no dad I’ve ever met! Lurking around the house to see if he can surprise his own son with a swift attack! More than a father-son relationship, these two seem to spend more time kicking each other’s butt! It’s even harder to believe that Ichigo’s dad is actually a DOCTOR that runs his own clinic… Wow! I like him! Watching him interact with his children is a lot of fun!
Kurosaki Karin (黒崎夏梨) She’s definitely no push-over like her more sweetly disposed twin sister Yuzu (they gotta be fraternal twins!). As a matter-of-fact, Karin is the striker of the Karakura Soccer Team! (All five members strong! ^_^). She’s also the “other” Red member of the Karakura Superheroes Team. Although Karin acts very tough, she’s very vulnerable inside. Like the rest of the Kurosaki family (except for “Dad”), Karin can see non-human entities, but is in strict denial (she says so herself XD!)
Kurosaki Yuzu (黒崎遊子)
